In the mountainous area of Strinilas, there is an abundance of durable stones, locally known as “strinaria.” The name may derive from the ancient word strenis (meaning rough or hard) or could be a variation of the word stournaria, possibly linked to the village’s name.

It stands out from other Corfiot villages due to its unique stone-built architecture and refreshing mountain climate, surrounded by lush greenery. Strinilas is approximately 28 km from Corfu Town and about 5.2 km from the summit of Mount Pantokrator, where the historic monastery of “Ypsilos Pantokrator” is located.
